I’m Abbey Burton, 24 and I’ve been shooting ever since I was 15. I was introduced to shooting by my games keeper grandfather Peter Burton and later had sporting lessons at E.J.Churchill shooting ground in High Wycombe on clays and can safely say I got the bug of clay shooting from here onwards!

I was spotted by Buckinghamshire representative to compete at county level  (this is where i discovered trap shooting disciplines) and later entered into the Great Britain Selection Shoot competition and made the Great Britain team as a junior in my first year  where I continued to shoot from 2003 till present day (8years so far to date).

My Achievements:

• Won a total of 6 individual medals: 2 Bronze, 4 Silver at the World and European championships.
• A total of 5 team medals: 1 Bronze, 2 Silver, 2 Gold at World,European and Commonwealth Championships.
• Current British record holder and Beat the World Record of 75ex75 plus 22 single barrel final (total 97ex100)
• 4 times british ladies champion 1st lady to win three years in a row.
currently competing this year at world cups to qualify for olympic games.

Major Titles Won:

• 2003 - First Junior Lady Final.
• 2004 - Individual bronze ECH, British champ (youngest to win age 17)
• 2005 - Individual bronze ECH,individ Silver WCH, team bronze World Cup
• 2006 - Individual lady 5th ECH ut
• 2007 - Individual silver WCH,individ silver ECH, BGP lady champ.
• 2008 - BGP lady champ, British lady record holder+beat world record 75ex75+22final (97ex100).
• 2009 - BGP Lady champion,Team silver OT,individ silver WCH ut,team gold ut WCH,team gold ut ECH.
• 2010 - Team silver commonwealths,7individ commonwealths (after 5 way shoot off to make 6man final)
• 2011 - TBC

My Working background:

I started work at E.J.Churchill shooting ground in High Wycombe as a receptionist and a caddy. In 2007 recieved my shooting instructor and level 1 Archery Leader qualification.

I later worked at another shooting range called Brook Bank in which I gave instruction and filled traps and served clients.
I was then involved in a start up of a new shooting school on a family farm to manage corporate events, young shots days, individual lessons and "have a go packages".

Since then I have become a freelance clay shooting instructor running my own business at www.abbeyburtonclayshooting.co.uk meeting clients at a location near them for all manner of shooting related activities from corporate events, young shot days to private tution.
